Craig Memorial Cemetery

The Craig Family Cemetery is located at the top of the hill, adjacent to the Old Pickens Church Cemetery. It continues to be used by the family. There is close cooperation between the Craig family and the Historic Old Pickens Foundation. Jane Craig and Jack Parris are members of the Craig family and also serve on the Board of the Historic Old Pickens Foundation.

"I am to be gathered to my people; bury me with my fathers..."

 Genesis 49:29

Many of the ancestors who were among the founding members of The Old Pickens Presbyterian Church are laid to rest on the church grounds, and in the adjacent Craig Memorial Cemetery. The Craig family cemetery was moved two and a half miles up the river from its original location at the time the Craig farm land was flooded to form Lake Keowee.

The Craig Memorial Cemetery is a privately endowed cemetery for the descendants of the three sons of Robert Craig and Rachel Speed Craig: William Speed Craig (who had thirteen children), John Craig (who had eleven children), and Arthur Craig (who had three children.) Some of these descendants were among the members of the Old Pickens Presbyterian Church when it last had an active congregation.
